7 Christmas Dog Treat Recipes - Cheap Stocking Fillers For Fido (1)

Christmas is prime time for baking and sharing the love. And that includes our pooches too! There are few things I love more than baking up a storm for my Loki.

And sure, I could go out and buy her a pack of dog treats for Christmas. To be honest she usually has a bag or two tucked away under the tree. But there’s something special about going DIY and filling the home with the scents of Christmas.

These homemade Christmas dog treats would also make a great gift for the pooch/pooch lover in your life. So this week I’ve been scouring the interwebs to bring you some of my favourites. Enjoy! I can’t wait to try them for myself too.

  1. Snowflake cookie dog treats

These snowflake cookies made by Pretty Fluffy are simply adorable and a doddle to make. You only need four ingredients and they’ll be ready in less than half an hour. They’d make a fabulous stocking filler for your deserving pooch this Christmas.

  1. Gingerbread cookies

Nothing says Christmas quite like the smell of gingerbread in your home. And these gingerbread men by Gone To The Snow Dogs will ensure Fido doesn’t miss out on one of our favourite Christmas traditions. Finish by decorating with melted yogurt drops – a great way to get the kids involved too!

  1. Peanut butter and pumpkin biscuits

What’s not to love about these peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats by My Baking Addiction. Pumpkin is a staple of the holiday season and peanut butter is every dog’s favourite treat. On the same recipe page, you’ll get two bonus recipes you can also try over Christmas – sweet potato treats and apple and carrot cookies. No need to thank me!

  1. Cranberry and apple dog treats

These cranberry, apple and mint dog treats by Bark and Biscuits are not only festively tasty, but they’re simple to make and nutritious for your pup too. This bumper batch makes 25 medium sized biscuits. The perfect amount to spoil your pooch over the festive season.

  1. Candy cane dog treats

Candy canes are everywhere at Christmas, and this dog treat recipe by Dog Treat Kitchen means your pooch can now join in the festive fun. They may take a little longer to make than your average dog treat, but they’ll certainly look the part and bring heaps of festive cheer to you and your pooch.

  1. Turkey Christmas trees

Ok folks, these Christmas trees by Little Dog Tips do take 12 hours to make in a dehydrator, but your pooch will adore these super meaty treats. It’ll all be worth it to see those wide eyes and tails wagging! If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can always use your oven on its lowest setting for around 6-8 hours instead.

  1. Sweet potato dog treats

These sweet potato dog treats by Lemons and Basil look almost good enough for us humans to eat. And as dog treats go, they look reasonably healthy too. Use Christmas cookie cutters to add that festive twist.
