I made some changes but the idea of making crescents with finely grated carrots remains the same.

There are so many questions about using carrots in dessert recipes, at least in this part of the world so here are some important information:

Does carrot cake actually have carrots in it ?

Carrot cake is cake that contains carrots mixed into the batter. Most carrot cake recipes have a white cream cheese frosting. Sometimes nuts such as walnuts or pecans are added into the cake batter, as well as spices such as cinnamon, ginger and ground mixed spice.

There is one of that kind I posted for Easter, without cream cheese, named Will be Home for Easter Carrot Cake

Is a carrot cake healthy?

Carrot cake contains healthy ingredients, such as carrots and nuts, but it is also loaded with fat and sugar. Depending on the size of the cake, your piece could be anywhere between 300-600 calories.

These crescents are not loaded with sugar so, yes, they are healthy!!!!!!

This crescent recipe is not puff pastry dessert. The dough is made of lard and carrot mixture as the base, so the dough is flaky and crisp.

Is lard good for baking bread?

Lard is a popular baking ingredient among the Amish, and it is regaining popularity among home bakers as a cheap alternative to shortening. Amish white bread is a great recipe for beginners and for people who are just learning to bake with lard.

Is lard best for pastry?

Lard makes an excellent fat for a pie crust. … Butter being superior in flavor in most doughs and crusts, does make for a harder fat to work with. It melts quickly, and if not handled correctly, can create a chewy crust rather than flaky.

How do I make my own lard?

Instructions:

  1. Cut the pork fat into roughly 1-inch squares. …
  2. The water will cook off and the lard will render slowly. …
  3. When the oil starts to pool, you can scoop it out and strain it into a clean, heat-proof jar or container. …
  4. Once the lard is cooled, cover and store it in the refrigerator.

To be back to our stuffed crescent rolls, please have in mind that any filling is all right to use; jams especially.

Here you can see one circle rolled out to have 11 inches diameter, cut to have 8 pizza style cut crescents. I covered the dough with Nutella after I cut the dough. I did it so to avoid Nutella leaking while in the oven. ½ tsp of Nutella is enough for each crescent.

Also, Iadded photo showing how crescents are easily rolled starting from the outside towards the center:

And, before you read the recipe, let me add one for pinning purposes if you like this egg free dessert:
