Tutorial to a Better Mining Setup (2024)

So for anyone that is wanting to start a profile in which you wanna grind mining a ton, you've come to the right place. This thread will discuss what setup you want on your HOTM Tree, what armor setups you should have, the Powder Distribution, what drill you should use etc. Keep in mind, this is not accurate at the dot and if you feel that you want to adjust something in the setup, feel free! Just make sure to fact check your powder distribution through the Hypixel Skyblock Wiki! Now onto the thread.

Starting Off:
So as you start off your profile, you want to get Mining 12 to receive access to the Dwarven Mines. The Dwarven Mines introduces two new ores which include Mithril and Titanium. You want to get the first pickaxe sold by Bubu, near the entrance of the Dwarven Mines, which will be the Fractured Mithril Pickaxe. Keep mining until you gain access to the second pickaxe sold in the shop by Bubu, which is the Bandaged Mithril Pickaxe. These two pickaxes will allow you to mine Titanium. Titanium will be essential later on. Once you get that, you want to focus on your HOTM Tree (Heart of the Mountain Tree) quite a bit. What you should do first is grind out to at LEAST HOTM 4 as you will gain access to a perk called Efficient Miner. This perk will help you gain access to more titanium as it gives you a chance to mine 1-6 adjacent ores, depending on its level. You will then want to start grinding out Titanium as this will get you your new pickaxe. The Titanium Pickaxe is also sold by Bubu. It has a breaking power of 6, introducing you to mining in the Crystal Hollows. Keep in mind, with this pickaxe, you can only mine ruby there and is not essential to your grind JUST YET. Now I'll move onto armors and drills as these paths can lead to the same result, but they affect what you are trying to grind out.

Armors:
By now, you should be around HOTM 5, with a Refined Titanium Pickaxe. Here is where things get a little tricky. There are quite a few armor sets available by this point. This includes Heat Armor, Flamebreaker Armor, Yog Armor, Sorrow Armor and the Armor of Divan. The easiest armor to get, available at this point, would be Heat Armor, as it requires a very little hardstone collection, needing only 1000 Hardstone. Depending on what type of profile you are grinding on, you can either just mine it out, or you can buy the materials from the Bazaar (or the armor from AH). This same thing applies to Flamebreaker and Yog armor. From here, you have two main options. You can grind out Nucleus Runs (which also you can grind out commissions in the process), get the materials for Divan or buy it from AH. Same thing applies with Sorrow. Sorrow Armor requires 72 sorrows, which can be obtained by killing Ghosts in the Mist, inside of the Dwarven Mines. It gives 5 Magic Find per piece as well as good Mining Stats. You need a very good ghost grinding setup as they have 1M HP and do tick damage as you stand near them. The Armor of Divan is another problem on its own. The Armor of Divan requires HOTM 6 and at its base state, is not much better than Sorrow. Before you consider even grinding out the Armor of Divan, consider getting a Gemstone Gauntlet. Drills will be explained later on. The Armor of Divan requires a total of 4 Flawless Ruby, 40 Gemstone Mixtures and 24 Divan Fragments. The Fragments can be obtained via AH, or Nucleus Runs. Once you obtain this armor, you need to add Gemstone Chambers to the armor. These chambers allow the addition of gemstones in the armor, essentially making it better than Sorrow. you need 20 Gemstone Chambers, each of which cost 100 Worm Membrane, 1 Gemstone Mixture and 25 000 coins. You want to unlock the Topaz Slot first, then the Jade Slots, then the Amber slots. The Gemstone Gauntlet has some sort of Mining Speed Cap and does not become as effective with a good amount of speed, this is why you unlock Amber last. Lastly, do this next step to either Sorrow Armor or the Armor of Divan. Add the Jaded Reforge to the armor pieces. It comes from the Jaderald, obtained from Nucleus Runs, having a 0,47% chance from each item spawned. You can also buy them from AH, depending on what type of profile you have.

Drills and Pickaxes:
As was mentioned, by the time you finshed starting off, you should probably have a Refined Titanium Pickaxe with minimum HOTM 4. From there, there are a handful of options available at The Forge. I am saying this as a reminder, DO NOT get a Mithril Drill as they are a COMPLETE WASTE. You can easily get the worst Titanium Drill for a similar craft or price. If you want to go for The Armor of Divan, grind out a Ruby Drill, then a Gemstone Drill. The Gemstone Drill will have enough Breaking Power for Topaz. From there, get the Pristine Enchant as it will give the Pristine Buff. This buff gives a chance to give extra Flawed Gemstones while mining, making the process much faster. From there, it will be effort, but grind out a Gemstone Gauntlet. This item will be your second final drill (unless you want to get a Titanium Drill DR-X655). For an x655, you want to have a Gemstone Gauntlet to start grinding out the drill itself. The Titanium Drill DR-X655 requires the materials under this Hypixel Skyblock Wiki Link: https://wiki.hypixel.net/Titanium_Drill_DR-X655. Always remember to add Gemstones that are relevant to Mining Stats if they are applicable.

Powder Distribution:
I won't touch too much into this topic, but it is still very important. If you want to Powder Mine there are a few things you need to be aware of. Powder Mining is effective for different things in different sections of the Crystal Hollows. For Goblin Eggs, it's the Goblin Holdout. For Automaton Parts, its the Precursor Remnants. For Sludge Juice, its the Jungle and for Treasurite and extra Mithril Powder, the Mithril Deposits. You need HOTM 6 to powder mine as it needs the perk: Mole. It allows you to mine adjacent Hard Stone blocks around you, essentially giving you a higher chance to find treasure while mining. You also want to max out the Great Explorer perk as it gives a higher percentage chance to find treasure while mining. Mole and Great Explorer paired together makes powder mining much more efficient.

As you want to mine for money, you want a minimum of 4M Powder of each type. This will guarantee you much more profit from mining and overall, makes mining less of a pain. There are a few ways to adjust your tree, which can be enough for an entirely different forum post, but to sum this up, your HOTM Tree will vary based on what you are Mining. Mithril Mining, Gemstone Mining and Titanium Mining each have their own set of Powder Distributions. Set them up as you wish. I would recommend looking at other forum posts, or talk to a friend to help you out with your Powder Distribution. Before you read below, keep in mind these setups are set for people with HOTM 7 and that have 4M Powder of each type. Here are the Paths you want to take for the different types of ores you are mining:

Mithril and Titanium (Excluding Powder Distribution):
Row 1: Mining Speed.
Row 2: Mining Fortune, Titanium Insanium (Disable for Peak Efficiency unless Titanium Mining), Mining Speed Boost (Ability).
Row 3: Daily Powder.
Row 4: Efficient Miner, Seasoned Mineman, Mining Madness.
Row 5: Peak Of The Mountain (POTM).
Row 6: Lonesome Miner, Professional, Mole, Fortunate, Great Explorer.
Row 7: Mining Speed 2, Mining Fortune 2.

Gemstone (Excluding Powder Distribution):

Row 1: Mining Speed.
Row 2: Mining Fortune, Titanium Insanium, Mining Speed Boost (Ability).
Row 3: Daily Powder.
Row 4: Efficient Miner (Disable), Seasoned Mineman.
Row 5: Peak Of The Mountain (POTM).
Row 6: Lonesome Miner, Professional, Mole, Fortunate, Great Explorer (Disable unless Powder Mining).
Row 7: Mining Speed 2, Powder Buff, Mining Fortune 2.

This is nowhere near the end of what I can talk about, but there are about the basics that can be easily explained. If you got any questions just let me know!
